Mid November Update

 It is hard to believe we are entering the middle of the month!  The past week was a bit choppy but we have been a busy bunch in kindergarten!  We continue move forward in literacy with a focus on decoding CVC words. As the kids become more confident with their letter and sound connections, I have been working on building their own awareness on what they can do independently.  Many of the kids have surprised themselves with how well they are able to write and/or label 3-4 letter words.  You may even notice your child "tapping" out the sounds of a word when reading or writing.  This is a strategy we use frequently.

The past week in math we've been focusing on the concept of "plus 1" and what that looks like in pictures and numbers. I have also introduced the "plus" and "equal" symbols. We are also looking at examples of : less than, greater than and equal to. The pictures below show 2 different math activities that we worked on in the past week.
